An HSS beam connects to an HSS column using a half-inch thick through-plate inserted through slotted cuts in both members. The column and beam are slotted for the through plate as detailed on sheet S5.2. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the connection on both the near side and far side typical throughout. The centerline of the HSS beam aligns with the centerline of the HSS column.
