Angle braces measuring three by three by one-quarter inches are welded to a structural steel beam and steel bar joists typical at each joist location with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A six-inch wood nailer matches the beam flange width between bar joists and is fastened with seven-eighth-inch diameter wood screws at twelve inches on center staggered, countersunk one inch max dap. Steel bar joists and the supporting steel beam are sized per the roof framing plan. Angle braces are field-welded to the beam after the roof is installed, and brace locations are coordinated with sprinkler pipes. Braces are installed no further than six inches from the top chord panel point unless an auxiliary web is provided.
