This assembly features a hollow structural section column supported by a base plate anchored to the foundation, with the top of the footing elevation determined per plan. A gusset plate is welded to the base plate and the column, providing a connection point for the diagonal brace. The brace is secured to the gusset plate using four bolts. A one-inch minimum clearance is maintained between the column and the gusset plate assembly. The working point for the brace alignment is located at the intersection of the brace centerline and the base plate surface.
