An open web steel joist is reinforced with structural angles placed on each side of the web members and chords. The reinforcement consists of L2x2x1/8 angles welded typically with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld. This reinforcement is required for concentrated loads greater than one hundred pounds located more than two inches from a panel point, positioned between the centerlines of the panel point and the concentrated load.
