An exterior steel stair stringer connects to a concrete slab or foundation using a three-quarter-inch thick by one-foot by one-foot eight-inch base plate secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter anchor bolts with three-eighth-inch thick by two-and-a-half-inch square steel plate washers and one-and-three-eighth-inch diameter holes. The built-up channel stringer bears on the base plate with complete joint penetration welds and connects to typical two-and-a-half by two-and-a-half by three-eighth-inch angles for the stair treads. The assembly fastens to the top of the slab or foundation as specified per plan.
