This structural plan detail shows a column with a base plate centered inside a square temporary edge of slab block-out. The surrounding slab on grade features a thickened slab edge and control joints radiating outward. A typical three-inch clearance is maintained around the base plate assembly. The isolation joint is filled with joint filler, and a round configuration may be used at the contractor's option.
