A structural steel beam connects to a supporting member using a full depth shear plate and a full depth stiffener plate. The connection utilizes three bolts in a vertical alignment with a one and a half inch clearance. A quarter-inch fillet weld is applied to three sides of the plate connection, maintaining a maximum three-quarter-inch gap.
