A sixteen-gauge sheet reinforcement is secured over a metal deck opening using number ten self-drilling screw fasteners or one-half-inch diameter arc plug welds to each deck flute. The reinforcement extends a minimum of six inches on all sides, with fasteners or welds spaced at a maximum of eight inches.
