A lower truss connection joins double angle web members and a vertical hollow structural section member to a truss bottom chord steel beam. A three-quarter-inch thick fifty ksi gusset plate knife-plates through the center of the hollow structural section members, welded with five-sixteenths-inch fillets to the beam and column. Three seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 bolts secure each double angle web member to the gusset plate. Full-height web stiffeners are welded to each side of the beam web at the gusset edges and align with the vertical hollow structural section member. The working point locates at one-half the beam and column depth, maintaining a one-inch clearance at the gusset edge.
