A structural steel girder splice is detailed with a complete joint penetration weld at the top flange and work points established along the member axis. The web and lower profile are fitted to bear against the hollow structural section, secured with a partial joint penetration weld. Specific root openings and weld sizes are indicated along the connection interfaces.
