This structural detail shows a concrete ramp transition slab poured over expanded polystyrene fill on top of a base slab or deck with fill. The new concrete slab connects to the substrate using number three adhesive anchors with a four-inch embedment spaced at twelve inches on center each way, requiring a pull test to 4,200 pounds at the perimeter. Where the depth of the new concrete reaches six inches maximum, the joint is roughened with a one-quarter-inch amplitude. The assembly includes a blocked-out depress and scratch finish at the termination point with a two-and-one-half-inch minimum thickness tapering to a one-inch minimum.
