The reinforcing steel layout at a stepped transition in a mild-reinforced concrete slab. The step depth 'X' is limited to a maximum of one foot with a transition slope dimension equal to six times 'X' unless otherwise noted on plan. Bottom bars continue per plan with number four continuous lap splices of two feet as required. Additional number four reinforcing bars are placed at eighteen inches on center at both top and bottom within the transition zone. Top bars continue across the step as indicated by the structural plan notes.
