A structural strut connection joins a steel beam to a concrete element utilizing welded plates and bolted shear tabs. The beam connects using three-quarter-inch thick shear plates on each side secured by nine three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts in thirteen-sixteenths by one-and-a-half-inch horizontal slot holes. Additional half-inch plates and three-quarter-inch plates are welded with low-hydrogen electrodes using various fillet sizes including three-eighths, five-sixteenths, seven-sixteenths, and five-eighths inch welds on three sides. The concrete element is reinforced with embedded number eight and number nine A706 reinforcing bars running six to eight feet long, lapped with panel strut bars, and welded wire fabric is specified alongside post-weld grouting.
