A three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate connects a hollow structural section brace to a hollow structural section column and hollow structural section beam at a common work point. The brace is welded to the gusset plate with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on both sides. A one-eighth-inch cap plate is seal welded at the top of the column.
