The bar joist seat rests on an L5x3x1/4 inch by 1 foot long bearing angle, which is centered on the joist and shimmed level. This bearing angle is supported by an embed plate type A53-12 located at each precast concrete panel. The assembly is situated within a 1 foot wide bearing pocket at a 3/4 inch panel joint. The bearing angle is welded to the embed plate with a 1/4 inch fillet weld on one side only, as specified by the note to weld to one panel embed bearing angle only.
