Steel roof joists bear on a steel girder beneath a metal roof deck, featuring bottom chord braces located at the joist nearest mid-span and as determined by the joist supplier. Two 1/2-inch diameter ASTM A325 erection bolts are required at all joists spanning 40 feet or more. Welds connecting the bracing components are specified with typical 3/16-inch fillet welds.
