Two typical wide-flange section column splice configurations are detailed, including a welded moment frame column splice and a bolted plate splice option. The moment frame splice features complete joint penetration welds at the splice centerline with typical mill tolerances, while the bolted option incorporates a three-eighths by ten inch plate secured with four seven-eighths inch diameter A325SC bolts and finished with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. Column splices may be shop welded at the contractor's option, with splice locations referenced in the column schedule.
