A hollow structural section post is supported by a wide-flange W10 beam sized per plan. A 3/8-inch by 8-1/2-inch by 12-inch connection plate is welded to the HSS post with a 5/16-inch fillet weld. The plate is secured to the supporting beam flange using four 3/4-inch diameter bolts.
