A wide flange steel beam supports a concrete slab on metal deck above a concrete masonry unit wall below. A bent plate is welded to the underside of the wide flange beam with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld. The masonry wall features a bond beam with reinforcing bars and maintains a joint gap between three-quarters of an inch minimum and one and a half inches maximum. The gap between angles is configured to match the concrete masonry unit wall width.
