A structural steel brace frame connection is anchored to a concrete footing and slab on grade assembly. The steel brace connects to a forty-eight-inch by forty-two-inch by one-and-three-quarter-inch A36 steel base plate secured by eight seven-eighth-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 36 threaded rods with three-quarter-inch by four-inch by four-inch steel plate washers and double nuts. The base plate bears over a one-and-a-half-inch non-shrink grout layer with twenty-five-inch embedment into the concrete. A seven-inch deep by three-inch thick by forty-two-inch long A36 steel shear lug is welded to the assembly with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld to transfer lateral loads into the concrete footing. The concrete footing supports a twenty-six-inch concrete slab on grade over a six-inch thick road base layer.
