About this detail

A structural steel beam frames into a concrete wall supporting a concrete over metal floor deck assembly. The beam web connects to the concrete wall using a shear tab with horizontal long slotted holes in the beam web, welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld on three sides typically. At the solid wall condition, the beam rests at a panel joint. At the opening condition, the beam frames into a concrete lintel or coupling beam above glazing.
