A wide flange steel column attaches to a concrete plinth, pilaster, or column via a baseplate, four 3/4-inch diameter threaded rods with hex nuts and washers, and an optional 1-inch diameter grout hole. A 1-inch minimum layer of non-shrink grout sits beneath the baseplate. The baseplate thickness and corresponding fillet weld sizes are specified per an accompanying table. Additional notes prohibit welding in the k region of the column and require tack welding nuts to anchor bolts where indicated.
