A steel column connects to a steel base plate set upon one and a half inches of non-shrink grout over a concrete footing. The column is secured with a five-sixteenths fillet weld. Anchor bolts embedded in the concrete footing fasten the base plate assembly. A concrete blockout surrounds the column base below the adjacent concrete slab on grade.
