This structural steel connection features a wide-flange frame beam intersecting a frame column with a gusset plate and buckling-restrained brace designed by the specialty engineer. A top plate matches the larger beam top flange thickness and connects to the column with a quarter-inch fillet weld. Demand-critical complete joint penetration welds occur at the top and bottom flanges typically. Continuity plates, beam stiffener plates, and column doubler plates are provided as required by the designer. Erection bolts are installed as required at the beam shear plate connection, which includes standard weld access holes.
