A shallow steel beam with a nominal depth less than half the girder nominal depth connects to a supporting steel girder web. A vertical tab plate welded to the girder web connects to the beam web using three bolts. A maximum clearance of one-half inch is maintained between the beam end and the girder web. The connection is detailed with a half-inch maximum typical setback.
