A structural steel beam connects to a vertical member using a half-inch thick plate with horizontal slotted holes welded with five-sixteenths fillet welds to the beam web. Two columns of four one-inch diameter Group A490 slip-critical bolts fasten the beam web to the connecting plate. The plate transfers load into a three-quarter by twelve-inch embedded plate secured by twelve half-inch diameter by six-inch long studs spaced at six inches on center. Additional reinforcing bars are placed at four inches on center between the outer rows of studs. All structural plates have a minimum yield strength of 50 KSI, and standard holes are provided in the beam web.
