A pipe sleeve opening passes through a reinforced concrete grade beam. The grade beam contains continuous top and bottom longitudinal reinforcement consisting of two twenty-millimeter bars. Where the pipe sleeve intercepts the grade beam, the main longitudinal reinforcement is interrupted and terminated with standard hooks developed on both sides of the pipe. Additional confinement is provided by ten-millimeter closed ties with two legs spaced at two hundred fifty millimeters on center across the opening zone. The sleeve opening is installed within the concrete section per the structural layout.
