Framing around roof openings is supported by steel bar joists and typical sub-purlins spaced at twenty-four inches on center. Openings up to one foot six inches by one foot six inches maximum and four feet zero inches by eight feet zero inches maximum are framed using double framing or sized per plan. Typical joist hangers or approved equals support intermediate framing members. Plywood sheathing accommodates a maximum eight-inch diameter hole.
