Roof joists bear atop a wide flange beam with required bolts for spans of forty feet or greater. K-series joists utilize angle stabilizers measuring one and one-half inches by one and one-half inches by one-quarter inch by one foot on each side, while long-span joists use angle stabilizers measuring three inches by three inches by one-quarter inch by one foot on each side. Shim plates are specified at one-eighth inch for K-series joists and one-quarter inch for long-span joists. Fillet welds of three-sixteenths inch secure the connections as indicated, maintaining a maximum one-half inch clearance.
