A structural steel kicker brace connects to a steel beam web using a three-eighths-by-five-inch square gusset plate welded to each side of the brace. The gusset plate attaches to the steel beam web with a quarter-inch fillet weld, and the kicker brace welds to the plate with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The steel beam supports a concrete slab over a metal floor deck, anchored with headed stud anchors.
