An HSS 6x4 elevator separator beam connects to a structural steel member using an L8x6x1/2 angle cut to fit with long legs vertical. The angle is secured to the supporting steel with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. The HSS beam connects to the angle using a 1/4-inch fillet weld with a three-inch minimum length unless noted otherwise. A two-inch minimum clearance is maintained between the framing elements.
