Supplemental reinforcing steel is placed at re-entrant corners in a slab on ground, specifically at discontinuous joints or saw-cut construction joints. Two number 4 reinforcing bars, each 4 feet long, are positioned at the slab mid-depth on either side of the joint intersection. A clear spacing of 2 inches is maintained between the bars and the joint edge, with a total reinforcement zone width of 4 inches. These bars provide additional crack control at geometric discontinuities in the slab.
