A supported steel beam connects to a supporting steel beam via a bolted shear tab and welded 3/8-inch full-height stiffener plates. The shear tab is fastened with bolts sized per engineering notes, while 3/8-inch by 4-inch minimum plates match the beam flange width on each side. Fillet welds of 1/4-inch size secure the stiffeners on three sides and the shear tab connections accordingly. Weld backup plates are specified in the notes but omitted from the graphic for clarity.
