Shear studs are positioned along the beam flange in single or multiple rows with specific dimensional spacing requirements. For single rows, studs typically align with the center line of the beam web unless otherwise noted. Multiple rows require a minimum edge distance of 1-1/4 inches and a 3-inch transverse spacing, maintaining a 4-1/2 inch longitudinal minimum spacing. Triple rows follow similar transverse dimensions with the center stud placed directly over the beam web.
