An HSS girt connects to a steel column flange using an L6x4x3/8 angle at both the top and bottom, with the angle width matched to the column flange width. A five-sixteenth-inch typical fillet weld secures the angle to the girt and column. A three-eighth-inch stiffener plate is provided beneath the bottom angle at bearing locations.
