A sprinkler line passes through a circular web penetration in a steel beam, with sizing and location coordinated through the fire protection drawings. The hole is positioned with a two-inch minimum clearance from the top flange and a maximum offset of six inches. A wood nailer is detailed above the top flange, maintaining a two-and-a-half-inch vertical dimension to the centerline of the sprinkler line. Steel beam sizes and nailer specifications are sized per plan.
