A structural steel one-sided beam-to-beam moment connection features a shear tab welded to the supporting member and bolted to the supported beam web. A three-eighths-inch full height stiffener plate is welded to the web with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. Additional three-eighths-by-four-inch plates are provided on each side to match the beam flange width, secured with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on two sides. Weld backup plates are required but omitted for clarity.
