The steel column is anchored to a concrete pedestal via a base plate sized per the column schedule. The pedestal is cast monolithically with a spread footing, with reinforcing bars detailed per sheet 11/B111.S5205. The slab-on-grade is separated from the pedestal by an isolation joint. Steel surfaces below grade that are not encased in concrete must be coated with cold-applied asphalt emulsion per ASTM D1187. The footing depth is designated as D, with three-inch concrete cover provided for all reinforcement.
