A structural steel column base plate is anchored to a concrete foundation using ASTM F1554 anchor rods fitted with double heavy hex nuts and welded plate washers. A two-inch nominal non-shrunk grout layer fills the space beneath the base plate, complete with a shear key and blockout filled with non-shrink grout as required. The column flanges feature complete joint penetration welds, designated as demand critical at the contractor's option.
