Cold-formed steel shearwall panels require continuous blocking and strap reinforcement around penetrations. A 350S200-54 continuous blocking member extends one stud bay minimum beyond each side of the opening with a four-foot minimum strap length secured by two rows of sheathing edge fastening. A nine-inch square hole maximum is permitted with only one penetration allowed per stud bay, maintaining three and a half inches minimum clearance on all sides from the panel edge nailing. Sheathing edge fastening is provided to each stud adjacent to the opening, complementing typical field fastening along the top and bottom tracks.
