A structural steel beam frames into a column using top and bottom gusset plates welded to the column flange or web. A connection plate attaches the beam web using slip-critical bolts spaced at three inches on center with one-and-a-half-inch edge distances. Complete-joint-penetration welds secure the gusset plates to the column with three-sided welding configurations. Additional plates are sized per standard braced frame column flange or web conditions.
