A concrete slab connects to a concrete masonry unit wall using continuous vertical dowels with alternate hooks extending into the thickened slab. Two continuous number five bottom bars run through the thickened slab section per structural plans. A forty-eight bar diameter lap splice length connects the dowels to the wall vertical reinforcing.
