A structural brace connects to a column and beam assembly using quarter-inch thick steel plates measuring six inches by eight inches on each side. Two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts spaced at three inches on center secure the plates through thirteen-sixteenths by two-inch vertical slotted holes. Bolts are installed finger tight with locking nuts to permit movement. A one-inch gap is maintained between the components, and a quarter-inch fillet weld is detailed at the base of the connection.
