A sawn contraction joint is formed in a concrete slab over metal deck. The sawcut joint has a maximum width of 0.1 inches and a depth of 1-1/2 inches ± 1/4 inch. Reinforcement is provided as sized per plan with a typical 2-1/2 inch clear cover. Maximum joint spacing is not to exceed 15 feet with a minimum dimension of 10 feet and a maximum 2:1 aspect ratio, where t represents the slab thickness in inches.
