An HSS10x10 hollow structural section post located inside an elevator shaft supports a cantilevered stair landing and stair stringers using structural steel angles and welded connections. A continuous L5x5x5/16 angle spans between the stringers, with L3x3x1/4 outriggers welded to its face. Top and bottom L4x4x1/2 bearing angles weld to the HSS tube post to support the framing. An L3x3x1/4 brace extends to the next beam and welds to the flange, secured with a 1-7/8 inch diameter high-strength bolt. A three-eighths inch stiffener plate reinforces the stringer assembly, utilizing typical 3/16 inch and 5/16 inch fillet welds.
