A structural steel beam frames into a special moment frame girder using a bolted shear tab and supplemental web stiffeners. The connection incorporates a three-eighths-inch full height plate welded to the web with one-quarter-inch fillet welds typically, while the beam flange features a coped detail as required on at least one side. A three-eighths-inch minimum plate matches the beam web thickness and grade, fastened with bolts sized and numbered per detail 1 on sheet S6-402. The intersecting special moment frame girder receives the beam web connection using five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. All bolts are pretensioned with a class A faying surface, and deck attachment to beams follows the typical deck schedule unless otherwise noted.
