An intermediate elevator rail connection joins a structural steel column to an elevator pit footing with anchor rods through a base plate over a one-and-a-half-inch non-shrink grout pad. A hollow structural section beam frames into the steel column with typical five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The lower steel column connects to the base plate using a one-quarter-inch fillet weld.
