Cold-formed metal studs interface with a deflection track positioned beneath a structural steel beam or deck assembly. A one-half-inch minimum gap is maintained between the top of the stud and the deflection track, requiring a minimum one-and-one-half-inch stud engagement into the track. A TSN drift clip is attached to each stud using two number-twelve screws into the stud and two powder-actuated fasteners into the track or steel support. Stud blocking is provided within six inches of the deflection track to allow sheathing attachment directly into the blocking rather than the deflection track.
