Reinforcement configuration at a step in a continuous concrete footing and foundation wall. The continuous concrete footing incorporates lengthwise reinforcement tied with typical Z-bars and transverse reinforcement at the vertical step. Dowels extending from the footing match the horizontal and vertical reinforcement of the concrete foundation wall above. The minimum lap length or dimension L at the step equals twice the step height, with a maximum step height in the footing limited to three feet six inches.
