A typical concrete stepped wall footing rests on undisturbed earth with specified depth and step height parameters. The vertical face of the steps must be cast directly against undisturbed earth, with concrete backfill required if the excavation ravels during casting. Horizontal and vertical reinforcing bars are continuous through the steps, maintaining minimum lap and cover dimensions. The horizontal step length is governed by a two-to-one minimum ratio relative to the step height "H", which is limited to a maximum of two feet. Footing thickness "D" and minimum dimension "D" are provided to match standard wall footing requirements.
